Political Correctness vs Truth

Monday, August 1, 2016 6:54 AM
Monday, August 1, 2016 6:54 AM

Our country is more divided and divisive than I have ever seen it — it’s so sad. I believe this is a by-product of people in this country rejecting God and not honoring life. Since 1973, approximately 58,000,000 babies have been aborted. I believe that this rejection of God and life is part of the reason that people call good evil, and evil good. The Bible says, Woe to them who do such things. It’s a stern warning.

Today, people call morality hate and the protection of life uncaring. They say that, somehow, we don’t understand. This type of rhetoric is what is destroying our country. What is causing the divisiveness that we are seeing? Political correctness has replaced truth. True love is honest — tells the truth.

We all need to come back to making God and His word the compass of our lives. The Bible says if we judge ourselves, we won’t be judged. Evaluate your own life, your own heart, and see if God is truly first. Is the word of God leading your life or is something else?

We need to have the courage to call evil, evil and good, good! God is the author of all that is good, and He has told us what is evil — all immortality is evil, all murder is evil, and all lies are evil.

We need to respect life and to realize that all human life and the inalienable rights of all God’s creation are important. Why? Because we received them from God, Himself, and no one else. Let’s treat everyone with kindness and respect.

Keeping a Soft Heart

Monday, July 25, 2016 9:22 PM
Monday, July 25, 2016 9:22 PM

As Christians, we cannot afford to allow our hearts to be hardened to the word of God or the voice of God. Hebrews 3:15 AMPC — Then while it is [still] called Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion [in the desert when the people provoked and irritated and embittered God against them].

A person with a hardened heart is one who hears the truth but refuses to do it —one who refuses to judge himself or to change his ways to line up with God’s truth. You hear the word of God in a certain area and refuse to do it. After a while, your heart will become hardened to that area. You will ignore it, make excuses as to why you weren’t doing it, and even get mad about it when the subject is brought up.

Why? — because you have refused to listen to God’s word on the matter.

It’s a dangerous place to be: that’s why God admonishes all of us not to allow our hearts to be hardened. It can become so hard that nothing can penetrate it. The only remedy is to repent, ask God to forgive us, and begin to act on His word in that area.

Then God, by His Holy Spirit, will soften that area so it can begin to bear fruit, grow, and become what it is supposed to become. But it is your choice.

What area or areas in your life have you ignored or refused to act upon concerning the word of God? Whatever it is, repent — change your ways and become obedient. Then you will experience true happiness and fulfillment in this world.

When There Are No Words

Monday, July 18, 2016 11:31 AM
Monday, July 18, 2016 11:31 AM

There are no words to properly explain, or bring comfort to, what has transpired recently here in America and around the world. There are no words to bring back those officers who were innocently murdered in the streets of Dallas or those persons who were shot and killed by the police.

The sadness of racism, to those who would see the color of someone’s skin as a way to think less of them or more of them; the fearmongering that goes on with the media — there are no words!

As Christians, we must realize God created all of us. We may all be different shades, but we all possess a soul (spirit) given to us by the creator of all things — the Father of our Lord Jesus. That’s what makes us human. To judge people by the color of their skin goes against God and His word.

For those of us who believe we can be different — be examples to a lost world — we can make a difference in the world. There are no words that can make better what people have to deal with because of the color of their skin. We should judge people by their character.

There are no words to properly express my sadness over these recent events. I can only work to better understand. To label all of a group for a few individuals is wrong. What I really know is that this earth is as close to hell as I want to get.

I’m going to live by the word of God and work to reach and bless His greatest creation — people! I hope you will do the same.

Getting Ahead

Monday, July 11, 2016 8:32 PM
Monday, July 11, 2016 8:32 PM

To get ahead in life, we need to go the extra mile. Someone once said, “There are no traffic jams in going the extra mile.”

Today, many people do just enough to get by. Still, some are more worried about what others are doing rather than what they are doing. This kind of attitude is not healthy, and it will not help us get ahead in life. Rise above the norm and purpose to do well no matter what everyone else is doing.

What we need is an attitude adjustment with a mind-set that leads to success and accomplishment. We need to work smart and hard. If you work for someone, then give them your best — do not wait to be told to do something when you can see it needs to be done.

Our rewards and promotions come from the Lord! Let us work and live in a way that glorifies Him. Be honest, and do not just go along to get along. Do not get distracted from doing what is right, even if it goes unnoticed for a time. Sooner or later you will get rewarded for your services. Complaining and grumbling will not get us ahead. What will get us ahead is doing the right thing all the time.

Let us stand up and stand out and watch God promote.

Let Us Remember

Wednesday, July 6, 2016 6:39 AM
Wednesday, July 6, 2016 6:39 AM

On July 4, 1776, thirteen colonies claimed their independence from England in the event which eventually led to the formation of the United States of America. Today it has become more of a holiday rather than a day when the final wording of the Declaration of Independence was decided.

In our history this remains one of the most significant times for our nation. To a lot of us it is a time to light fireworks and to enjoy a day off from work. It is much more than that. Many people died and gave up everything to see our nation freed from the tyranny of England. That is what I think we need to be reminded of.

We remember our history, and should be very thankful for such a great nation to live in. We should not allow a few to take away our rights that so many died to give us. This is the greatest nation in the world. So let’s take a moment and thank the Father of our Lord Jesus for allowing us to live here and to enjoy the freedom that only comes from Him.

Thank you, Lord, for the republic and for the freedom with which to enjoy it.
