YOUTH PASTOR (FULL-TIME)

Position Summary

The Youth Pastor is responsible for leading and growing a healthy, Christ-centered student ministry by building relationships with students and families, developing volunteer teams, creating engaging environments, and helping students take next steps in their faith journey. This role provides spiritual leadership, pastoral care, organizational oversight, and vision for assigned student ministry areas and campus responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build meaningful relationships with students, parents, volunteers, and staff
  • Recruit, develop, and empower leaders and volunteers within the ministry
  • Create opportunities for students and families to connect, grow, and serve within Legacy Church
  • Communicate and cast vision to students, leaders, volunteers, and staff
  • Plan, prepare, and communicate biblically sound and engaging messages weekly
  • Develop and oversee ministry teams, programming, events, and student engagement opportunities
  • Foster a welcoming, safe, and spiritually impactful environment for students
  • Disciple students and leaders through mentoring, relationship-building, and spiritual development

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing ministry-related social media platforms
  • Welcome and engage students during services, events, and gatherings
  • Lead and facilitate volunteer and leadership meetings
  • Support outreach efforts through school visits, student engagement, and community involvement
  • Assist in planning and preparation for ministry initiatives, camps, conferences, retreats, and special events

General Duties

  • Complete and submit weekly ministry reports and administrative documentation
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and text messages in a timely and professional manner
  • Provide pastoral care support, including hospital visits or family support when needed
  • Participate in budget planning and stewardship of ministry resources
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and church-wide events as required
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and expectations outlined in the Legacy Church Employee Handbook

Qualifications & Expectations

  • Demonstrates a growing and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Passion for student ministry, discipleship, and leadership development
  • Models integrity, professionalism, spiritual maturity, and a servant-hearted attitude
  • Supports and aligns with the mission, vision, values, and doctrinal beliefs of the church
  • Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead teams, manage multiple responsibilities, and work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, leadership, education, or related field preferred
  • Previous experience in student ministry, church leadership, education, or related environments preferred
  • Experience recruiting, developing, and leading volunteer teams preferred

Safety, Schedule & Physical Requirements

  • Must successfully complete a background check and required child safety training
  • Must follow all Church safety, confidentiality, and child protection policies
  • Position requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, camps, conferences, retreats, and special events
  • Ability to travel between campuses, schools, and ministry events as needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, actively participate in student activities, and lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to assist with event setup, teardown, and general ministry operations as needed
