Consumer or Contributor
What kind of Christian are you — a consumer or a contributor?
The Self-Focused Drift:
We live in a world that constantly asks, “What’s in it for me?” That thinking seeps into the Church too. We show up hoping to be served, entertained, inspired — but not always to serve. It’s easy to fall into that trap. But Jesus didn’t come to be served. He came to serve — and told us to do the same.
The Generous Life:
Proverbs 11:25 says, “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” That’s God’s economy. When we give — our time, our resources, our hearts — God multiplies it. He blesses the giver. The contributor lives large because they’re building something eternal. They don’t just show up to church; they are the Church.
Living Beyond Ourselves:
A consumer keeps everything small — their vision, their faith, their impact. A contributor thinks kingdom-wide. They ask, “How can I build? Whom can I help? Where can I serve?” When we shift from taking to giving, from spectating to participating, everything changes. That’s when God steps in and does what only He can do.
Let’s be faithful to show up, serve well, and give big. Let’s be contributors.
