The Avarice Attitude

Resenting what others have is wrong. We are to rejoice with those who rejoice…

Resentment means a feeling of displeasure and indignation from a sense of being injured or offended. In our country, people have been taught to resent what others have. There are those who believe they are the ones who get to determine who has too much or too little. It is a sad day in the greatest country ever when we think we can resent what somebody has and think we can take it from them or tax them (another way of taking) to give it to someone else. It is one thing for those people to be generous and give of what they have, and it is another for someone else to take it, or worse, try to make people feel guilty for their success. How sad! We, as a nation, have fallen far if we think this is right. The further we get from God, the more we covet what others have. The thought that I could resent what others have or resent their success is sad. The remedy for this is to be thankful for what we do have. If you are a thankful person, I do not believe you would resent what others have or do not have.

Sticks & Stones

In our country, our constitution gives us the right to say whatever we want. It is called "Freedom of Speech". Now, be aware that with this freedom, people will say things that may be considered offensive, but they still have the right to say it. However, there is a growing movement to label people as "haters" or "something-phobic" if they say things that go against the culture or what is trending in society. Those people are asked, "Who are you to judge me?" They are ridiculed or mocked into being silent because of their beliefs. Another name they might be called is "intolerant", yet the ones doing the name calling in order to silence the masses are demonstrating intolerance by definition. As long as you agree with them you are ok, but the moment you exercise your freedom of speech, they attack you. Political correctness is killing our right to say and believe whatever we want. We must not submit to this. We cannot buy into this dogma from a society that hates God and is trying to force everyone to conform to its agenda.

James 4:4 says that if you are a friend of the world and its philosophies and its beliefs then you are an enemy of God. Let us continue to demonstrate our faith in front of a world that needs God now more than ever.

Getting Ahead

To get ahead in life, you need to go the extra mile. Someone once said, “There are no traffic jams in going the extra mile.” Today, many people do just enough to get by. Still, some are more worried about what others are doing rather than what they are doing. This kind of attitude is not healthy, and it will not help us get ahead in life. What we need is an attitude adjustment with a mindset that leads to success and accomplishment. We need to work smart and hard. If you work for someone, then give them your best. Do not wait to be told to do something when you can see it needs to be done. Rise above the norm and purpose to do well no matter what everyone else is doing. Our rewards and promotions come from the Lord! Let us work and live in a way that glorifies Him. Do not get distracted from doing what is right, even if it goes unnoticed for a time. Sooner or later you will get rewarded for your services. Complaining and grumbling will not get you ahead. What will get us ahead is doing the right thing all the time. Be honest, and do not just go along to get along. Let us stand up and stand out and watch God promote.

Loyalty

With the New Year comes a new season. As 2013 comes to a close and 2014 begins, I believe we are getting closer and closer to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. I have observed more false teachings being taught to the church in the last decade then in any other time of my life. One such teaching is the “anything goes” doctrine. It teaches that you can live any way you want and as long as you are nice to people you will go to heaven. This is not truth. In this upcoming year we must renew our commitment to God. This laid-back attitude of not pursuing His ways will only separate us from Him; not bring us closer.

We need to become more passionate in our pursuit of Him and His Kingdom. We are so committed to other things in life (which is not a bad thing), but we often times fail to give God the same level of dedication. Let us make 2014 a year of renewal for us as believers. Let us re-commit our lives, attitude, thinking and money to God and let us become soul-winners like never before. Jesus said, “If you love me, you’ll keep my commandments.” - John 14:15. Happy New Year!!

Merry CHRISTmas

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all people.” - Luke 2:10

The good news is that Jesus the Savior was born. This Wednesday, the whole world will pause for the greatest moment in mankind’s history: the moment when God so loved the world that He gave His Son so that people everywhere might be saved (John 3:16). We recognize this moment on Christmas, the day we recognize His birth. Because of that, we can experience forgiveness from our sins (those things we do that are against the Word of God). Anyone can repent and be forgiven if they ask and believe that Jesus is the Son of God and confess Him as Lord of their life (Romans 10:9-10). This is the one and only reason we celebrate Christmas.

Merry Christmas - those words have come under attack recently as being offensive and are often classified as hate speech. To those of us who have been forgiven and saved, we celebrate unashamedly the Christ in Christmas. So, to you and your family, MERRY CHRISTMAS, MERRY CHRISTMAS, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
