Being of Two Minds

Saturday, December 21, 2013 6:42 PM
Saturday, December 21, 2013 6:42 PM

For every day that we are alive, there are many choices to make. One choice that I hope we make every day is to serve and honor God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 8:7 says that the carnal mind is enmity against God and cannot receive the law of God or the Word of God. We cannot be carnally minded and spiritually minded at the same time. We are one or the other, but not both.

To be carnally minded is to be flesh-led, or walking according to our own desires instead of God’s (Galatians 5:19-20). To be spiritually minded is to walk and live according to God’s ways and His standards. Again, every day that we have breath, we get to choose who we will serve: God or our flesh. Carnal mindedness leads to death, while spiritual mindedness leads to peace and life. Which one do you want operating in your life?

I hope and pray that you choose life and begin or continue to choose His ways. Allow God to bless you with all of His promises. May God richly bless you today as you follow Him in all your ways.

Christmas Reflections

Thursday, December 12, 2013 8:52 AM
Thursday, December 12, 2013 8:52 AM

The season has arrived in which we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the only reason for Christmas. As believers we should never shy away from this truth. Giving and receiving gifts are fine, but this is really a time to reflect on and honor His birth. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. That whosoever believes on Him shall be saved. Let us keep putting God first in our lives. Let us make Him a priority. He is the author and finisher of our faith. As we put Him first, we will have a Merry Christmas. We will show love and compassion to everyone we come in contact with because God is love, and He wants to help us. This is the time of year when the whole world recognizes Christmas, so let us keep it about Christ. As we worship Him we should bear in mind to be thankful for His many blessings. May God continue to bless you and your family during this Christmas season!

Refusing the Truth

Thursday, December 5, 2013 4:12 PM
Thursday, December 5, 2013 4:12 PM

When we believe a thought that does not line up and agree with the Word of God, we then become our own god. We decide we are right and we define what truth is. I have had many conversations with people on various topics. I am baffled by their reactions when they are presented with the TRUTH. They do not care and insist on their own way. They believe what they want to regardless of what is true and what is not. Why do people think like this? It is likely because they have a hard time admitting that they are wrong or make mistakes. They then start to believe crazy stuff. In our society a vast number of people believe it is the government’s role to provide for and take care of them. The truth is it is not our government’s role, and the more people who believe it is the more dependent they become on a flawed system that was never meant to provide for them in the first place.

Knowledge is power and being able to admit you are wrong is not weakness, but it is strength. Find out the facts and be willing to want the truth. Then act accordingly. The Truth will set us free, but we have to believe it first.

An Attitude of Gratitude

Tuesday, November 26, 2013 4:09 PM
Tuesday, November 26, 2013 4:09 PM

As Thanksgiving rapidly approaches let us not lose sight of the true meaning of this day. It has nothing to do with Black Friday, hanging out with family, eating turkey or playing football. Let us be thankful for this great nation and more importantly to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the one true God. This is a moment when we can reflect on what we have been blessed with, instead of being consumed with what we do not have or what is wrong with our lives.

To be grateful and thankful is a state of mind. We can choose to see the good and not the bad. It is easier to be ungrateful and negative than it is to see the good and find something to be thankful for. Being ungrateful and negative will also only make you more miserable.

This Thanksgiving let us count our blessings and thank the God of the universe, the one true God, who is our Father in Heaven. Your Thanksgiving feast will become happier and more blessed.

Kindness Influences Your Well-Being

Kindness makes you happy and happiness makes you kind. The statistics are clear: studies conclude that doing acts of kindness and volunteering makes you healthier. Alan Luke documented his study that concluded that a clear cause-and-effect relationship existed between helping and good health. Helping contributes to the maintenance of good health and it can decrease the psychological and physical effect of diseases and disorders (serious and minor). Performing kind acts reverses feelings of depression and provides a social connection. It also reduces feelings of hostility and isolation that can cause conditions such as stress, overeating and ulcers. These are only a few of the findings. When we do kind acts and help out others, it is beneficial and healthy for our lives. Actually, this reveals what God already knew. When we volunteer and do intentional acts of kindness, we’ll be healthier spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally. So as we go through our days, let’s practice kindness whenever and wherever we can.
