Blind Spots in Life
Sometimes in life we overlook physical or personal things. When we do not immediately deal with them time continues on, and we become oblivious to their presence in our lives. They are still there. We just do not see them anymore, or we got accustomed to seeing them. These are called scotomas. They are figurative blind spots in a person’s awareness. They should not be there, but because of familiarity they seem to “disappear”. A blind spot is developed over time. For example, you see something out of place and say, “I’ll fix it later,” then days go by until eventually it no longer looks out of place. When reminded of it, you will probably say something like, “Oh, I forgot about that,” or “I didn’t even notice that”. Scotomas in our life, spiritual or otherwise, can be very dangerous. Let me encourage you today to do a self-evaluation. If you have areas in your life that you have allowed to become spiritual blind spots, like complaining, nagging or another behavior that has become destructive, you should start asking God for “corrective lenses”. Make adjustments in your life that will help you be better. All of us need check-ups from time to time!
