Filled to the Brim!
When people finally come to a place where they submit their lives to God, and believe Jesus as their Lord and Savior, the one statement you constantly hear is, “I always felt like something was missing”. The greatest life is a fulfilled life. We have believed society’s lie that says fame and fortune are the keys to being fulfilled. If that were true, everyone who “had it all” would be a lot healthier. If we submit ourselves to God, He’s the only one who can truly fulfill our lives. Everything else will just keep us wanting more. Fulfillment means, “Satisfied, or happy because of fully developing one’s ability or character”. Only God can cause that to happen. When you’re life is fulfilled, you’ll never feel like something’s missing again. You’ll have a greater sense of self-worth, self-esteem, and self-confidence in your life. This is the result of obeying God’s Word.

In Your Skin
Being comfortable in your own skin means to be satisfied with yourself. In America, especially for women, this is interpreted in terms of appearance, but it’s much more than that. True satisfaction and self-esteem reflect your ability to cope with whatever challenges life has for you. External validation does not bring the same satisfaction as learning to respect yourself and learning to feel worthy of happiness. To be content with whom you are and the way you were created is so important to learn. On the other hand, this doesn’t mean we no longer strive to be better and do better, like working on certain attitudes or getting in shape. What it does mean is “I don’t want to be anyone else, I’m learning to be comfortable in who I am”. There are some things we can’t change, like your height, or the size of your feet (ha ha), but we CAN change the way we think and process information, and how we react to it. I believe this is important to our spiritual, mental, and emotional health. Let’s start to be comfortable in our own skin and truly experience happiness.

Follow the Leader?
Real leadership is what our country, state, and local communities desperately need. I believe the reason is because people don’t know what real leadership is. Most people think leadership is all about a position, but it’s much more than that. It’s about influence. Humility is fundamental to real leadership. It’s about being teachable, and realizing we know we may be wrong at times. Humility asks, “How can I help?” Leadership says, “Come and join me,” not “Go do this, or that”. Real leaders say, “Come be a part of the team!” As leaders, we must realize that all of us are smarter than one of us alone. Leadership leads, and realizes that people intuitively knows if you think you are better than they are. No one wants to follow that. If you have to keep reminding people who you are, then you are at the lowest level of leadership: Positional Leadership, which says, “I’m the boss, do what I say, or else!” Leaders also say “we” not “I”. It’s not about you, it’s about the team. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

There Can Be Only One
This weekend, we celebrated the greatest truth known to all of mankind: Jesus is alive! He died, was buried, and rose from the dead to give you and me a hope for eternity. With His resurrection comes redemption from sickness, sin, poverty and disease. We can be thankful for that! Think for a moment how awesome that is! For one day, the whole world has to recognize this achievement, whether they believe it or not, they must recognize it. I thank the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for the sacrifice His Son was willing to pay for the whole world, including those who believe in false religions. They may compare themselves with Him, and even discuss similarities with Him, but in the end, He is the risen Savior and no one else! Jesus didn’t just point to the way, or talk about truth, or a better life, but according to John 14:6, He IS the Way, the Truth and the Life! Thank God He rose again! Let’s serve and honor Him the way the Word asks us to. May God richly bless you as you meditate on the truth…He is alive!!

You Are Now Entering the Comfort Zone
Everyone has a comfort zone, or, some may refer to it as a “confidence zone”. The comfort zone is the place we feel the most confident in, and the place where all is well. It’s the “middle of the road” place. It’s been said that most people have two types of fears: fear of rejection and fear of failure. The distance between them will determine the width and size of your comfort zone. The closer your fears are, the smaller the zone; the wider the distance between your fears, the larger your comfort zone. In order to widen the gap, we must be willing to grow and change.
Pat Robertson said there are generally three reasons why people begin to change: need, frustration or depression. We have to step out in faith so that our confidence zone does not restrict our potential. Many of us have incredible potential that will never be realized because of our fears of rejection and failure. Everyone fails, but the lesson is that it’s not fatal and that everyone faces rejection at some point. Learn to accept that not everyone is going to like or accept you. We should develop a sense of who we are and grow from our mistakes. We should learn to deal gracefully with setbacks. The larger and wider you comfort zone is, more opportunities will come your way. It’s not a matter of “What if I can’t,” it’s a matter of “What if I CAN…”
