Spirit of Covetousness
To have a right relationship with God, we must learn His Word and follow it. There’s a spirit of covetousness that is so prevalent in our country, people have rejected God and His ways. They have gone after idols such as resentment. Many people today are willing to give up everything for a government that will give them a life. I’m thankful that I was never taught to resent what others have. Because people have rejected God’s ways, they’ve made for themselves a “god of covetousness.”
To define “covetousness” means to want someone to lose what they have so that you can have it. We are supposed to depend on God. He is the One who will meet our needs according to His riches and glory. Our rejection of Him and His Word has caused division among us as believers. God is our source and no other. We shouldn’t resent what others have. We shouldn’t embrace a government that wants to restrain our freedoms, or that embraces all that is wrong in the world. We are to embrace God and His ways and fight for the right to worship, to live without any interference from the state and to believe Him for our daily bread.
