What does it mean to keep our word and swear to our own hurt? It means that when you give your word you keep it. The definition of integrity is the quality of being honest, being morally sound, and having strong moral principles. When you give your word you should do everything in your power to make good on it. In today’s society a person’s word is only kept if it is convenient. It is becoming far too commonplace for people to say something and not mean it. It is important to earn a reputation as a person of integrity and to esteem those who mean what they say and say what they mean. I know sometimes it is difficult to follow through with what you say, but we should do all we can. If we cannot we should go to that person and let them know. We expect this from others. Should we not also expect it from ourselves? Integrity is a small word with a big impact on our lives. Let us work towards a reputation of dignity and character.
